Hi, .  The pilot of the Commanders Eagle at the beginning of
Breakaway sounds familiar.  I wonder is this actor from the
Thunderbirds or some other GA show?  Does he or his voice show up
again in S19?

I believe you are referring to Shane Rimmer, the same actor who played
"Kelley" in Space Brain, and narrated the S19 documentary.

His name is Shane Rimmer.  He did narrate the documentary, as well as supply
the voice to one of the Thunderbirds' characters.  He also appeared in UFO,
as the pilot of Seagull X-ray in the episode "Identified"

When I first saw the posting about the voice of the Eagle pilot who
speaks to Koenig near the beginning of the show I thought "Some people
have watched the show a million times to be able to recognize such
trivial stuff". But Ellen Lindow remembered the voice too and suggested
the guy who plays Kelly.

So I have to put in my piece of trivia. The actor who played Kelly in
SPACE BRAIN (not the episode which Ellen had mentioned) was Shane Rimmer
and he is a long time associate of Gerry Anderson. So it is not
impossible for it to be him. Shane had provided voices for many of the
earlier puppet series and had a guest shot on both UFO and SPACE: 1999.
Apparently he was also filmed as Brogan in the original pilot for SPACE
PRECINCT before they reshot it with Ted Shackelford. I once saw a site
which had a picture of Shane Rimmer in the role and often thought how
the series would have been with him and not Mr. Knots Landing.

So Ellen you may just be right on that.

Don't know about the documentary.  The voice belongs to Shane Rimmer who
played Kelly in "Space Brain."  His voice was also heard in "The
Testament of Arkadia."  Shane Rimmer also played the B-52 co-pilot in the
film "Dr. Strangelove" and wrote at least one episode of "Captain
Scarlet."

I think he also appeared in an episode of The Protectors, and wrote a
screenplay or two for the series as well.  As soon as I can find my Gerry
Anderson book, I'll confirm that.
