Subject: Space1999: In the Comics Today

Greetings! I caught my first "Space:1999" allusion of the year today in
the daily comics. "Fox Trot" was the strip, I believe. Allow me to
describe it from memory: In the first panel we see a couple, each of
whom is reading a newspaper. "So, it's 1999," remarks the man. "Um-hm,"
replies his (presumed) wife. Two panels pass without further remark. In
the last panel the man mutters, "Wasn't Martin Landau supposed to me on
the moon by now, or something?" The wife responds by noting that "I see
they're finally going to fix that pothole...."

Very dry and very wry -- written entirely in allusive, ironic language.

If someone else has seen this strip and can correct the details in my
account, I promise not to be offended....

Cheers,

Will

It can be found online at http://www2.uclick.com/client/ore/ft/ (search for the strip for January 1). If you can't find it there, I saved the (gif) file and can attach it as email to whoever wants it. Let me know by private email, and I'll reply with the attachment. Nice collectable to start off the Year of Alpha.
