Subject: Space1999: Breakaway & Catherine Schell

Dear 1999 List Members,

The following has been written about Breakaway: The Convention in recent
emails posted to the list:

According to Rosie Badgett, the Convention Chair, an invitation has been
issued to actress Catherine Schell. To date, Ms. Schell has not responded to
the Committee to either accept or decline the invitation.

As the year 1999 progresses, The Committee as a whole will have to assess the
number of pre-registrations versus the number of European-based guests it can
afford to bring to Los Angeles. Obviously, with a higher number of people
pre-registering and sending in their money, the higher the number of guests
that can be flown in and accommodated.

Please keep in mind that the one of the objectives of Breakaway: The
Convention is to raise money for two charitable causes (BookPALS and
Parkinson's disease treatment and research). The Committee will continue to
balance expenses and financial outlays to ensure that a fabulous event is
produced, while also raising funds of these worthy causes.

Again, I urge list members not to spread unfounded rumors about the
Convention. Please feel free to email Committee members with questions.
Information and email addresses may be found at the official Breakaway: The
Convention site, located at:

http://breakaway-con.com

Please visit the pages (if you haven't already done so!) and send in your pre-
registrations today!

Happy New Year,

Anthony Wynn
Committee Member

(atd1999@yahoo4tag.com) Subject: Space1999: Re: Breakaway & Catherine Schell Anthony: As the members of this list have stated before, there is a *dearth* of information concerning the Convention, whether it be here within the list or on the Web site. The only communication we have gotten is "please sign up early"...we all understand the importance of signing-up early, but not much has come of that. Has anyone else signed up? Can tentative attendance figures be given? Will I be the only one there? I don't know how many people are on "Online Alpha", but we seem to be one of the few organized groups of 1999 fans on the Internet...yet, no one talks to us, except when it's time to kill a rumor. We wouldn't have rumors if there were some sort of weekly update. It's not an unreasonable thing to ask considering it's January, 1999. As for paying for Europeans guests versus giving to a charity, I personally vote for European guests. I can give to any charity I want, but I don't always get the chance to be around the entire cast of one of my favorite shows. Yes, it's a nice gesture to give to a local charity, but maybe we can pass around a hat at the Convention and raise extra money that way. Let's get as many Space:1999 people there in September; this is it kids. This is the LAST September,1999 there will EVER be...let's make it BIG!!! And before anyone asks, I have not sent in payment. My intention is to do it this month. My only problem has been to decide who I am going to the Con with. A family member has volunteered to go, but she is not a fan by any stretch...I'd rather go with a fan... Perhaps, just perhaps, the Web site can have a page that lists people who want to travel (or room) together along with contact information for that person...how about that??? Sorry to rant, but it just seems there is a total lack of information. The Web site gets updated every other month...either there's not much to say or... Anthony

I plan to finance the rest of our trip with this summer's summer school paycheck. My husband and I (he's a fan too, I can't imagine being involved with a mundane!) will be flying from Tampa, Florida.

From: Dave Jonkers Subject: Breakaway Convention '99 Date: Sun, 3 Jan 1999 21:28:13 +1030 I am from Adelaide, South Australia. I am 30 years of age. I have just recently subscribed to the Space 1999 Mailing List. I am very interested in coming to the US of A to be a part of the "Once In A Lifetime" Breakaway Convention, as I have been a big fan of Space 1999 since it's inception. I do not have a problem financially in coming to this Convention coming from the other side of the world, but is it all that cracks up to be ?? Don't get me wrong, I am very excited about the possibility of being part of this convention, but feel a little hesitant. I am a big fan of Season 2 episodes and a little disappointed that Catherine Schell and Tony Anholt is not yet confirmed. Not much info recently has been posted on the Breakaway Official WEB Site. And again, like most people, I do not wish to go by myself. Is there any Australian die hard fans out there that are going ?? Maybe we can participate together !!!! I hope to be part of this convention as September 13th 1999 is a "Once In a Lifetime date"
From: TERALISHA@aol4tag.com Date: Sun, 3 Jan 1999 13:37:49 EST Subject: Space1999: Welcome new 99 members! Hi! Just wanted to say hello to all the new members out here. As for the person in Australia (& the rest of us anxiously awaiting to see what cast members confirm) Patience, I think will be the word. I'm sure the Convention site will keep us updated as they receive information. Perhaps Anholt & Schell aren't sure if they can attend yet and are waiting until later to reply. (Just like some of us who are waiting to see how our lives will go before we can commit to going) Then again, as a BIG Year 2 fan myself, I will be highly dissapointed if we don't get at least one of them to attend. perhaps the convention people can forward to them the fact that their attendence is truly being a wanted thing. Ok, must go now as reality and lunch beckon. Have a good day and remember to have at least one laugh & a smile today! Tera
From: South Central (Tamazunchale@web44tv.net) Date: Sun, 3 Jan 1999 17:45:47 -0800 (PST) Subject: Space1999: Breakaway Con I have NOTHING to do with the con, but I am going to set up a website (this week, I promise) that will list all those list members who: 1. Have already registered to go 2. Are defintitely going to register to go 3. Where they are from 4. How they are getting there 5. Where/How long they will stay All this is just so people can get motivated to go and maybe hook up with others on the way in or on the way back. Once I have the basic page up I will need the list members to volunteer the information (mentioned above) via private email and I will post it on the page. I DO NOT have access to the actual registration lists nor anything like that. It is JUST to know who among us is going. For the record, I have not YET registered but plan on registering as soon and Ed Seifert sends me the [new?] registration form. From: TERALISHA@aol4tag.com Date: Sat, 2 Jan 1999 22:37:17 EST Subject: Space1999: RE: The Big 99 Convention Hi All! 1st item - Americans - let's continue to send to sci-fi for a 99 showing! I still have several episodes that I truly, madly, Absolutlely want to get on video - even if they are butchered a little - 2 must haves are the rock episode and Dragon's Domain! I guess the British are getting their 99 - bit by bit - I'm jealous! Don't know about the Canadians or anywhere else in the world but here's being hopeful. 2nd item - Convention! It was my understanding that most personnel associated with 99 were invited - it's up to them to decline or accept. I for one being the Year 2 fan that I am - would really like for Anholt & Schell to be there! And of course everyone else! Then again I would really like to be there but with my recent situation of unemployment - who knows? I was originally going to register this month but now I'm not sure. Of course if I hear that Anholt & Schell accept to go - I will borrow $ from everyone of my relatives - which means I'll be calling several states to beg, borrow, and Plead. Which brings me to another question. So far, I have nobody else to go with - unless my brother can go - rest of family isn't financially willing or just not fans so that means I will have to travel alone. Perhaps as we get closer to date we can have members meet along the way as far as travel plans go. I look forward to meeting members and it might be nice for us to travel as a unified group. As they say who knows - still a long way off yet. I'm off to do some web looking now. Everyone take care and remember to have your daily smile. Tera
