Subject: Space1999: If you could have been in any episode...

I was having a mini S99 Marathon this past weekend and watched 5 episodes in a
row... I really needed just relax and get away so I parked myself on the sofa
and let myself get sucked into Moonbase Alpha... and after watching SPACE
BRAIN (episode number 3 of the 5) I began to wonder what it would have been
like on the sets with all of that foam. And if I could have been in any
episode I would have to say that SPACE BRAIN would be my pick. Yes, DARGON'S
DOMAIN is my favorite, but SB looked like so much fun.

So - what episode would everyone else have wished they could have been in?

Mike

Sometimes when I'm in the tub I'm reminded of this Ep (as I usually have the bubbles overflowing the sides of the tub)! I originally titled this Episode THE FOAM OF DEATH --- but since changed my impression to SOAP SUDS ARE GONNA GET 'EM!

It must have been fun to act like cave people. Then to walk in that mist and become yourself again. Mike you are right about it being fun to work with all that foam. Christina

Inasmuch as I am more of a Y1 fan than a Y2 fan (that's not my focus here). I would have to say Brian the Brain. Therein lies the opportunity to get some more equipment onto the base and to finally have a droid on board (programmed with the Ten Commandments of course). Enough fuel on the mother ship to last a billion years? Long distance travel? Ahh! more 'fuel' for a sequel season or at least fan fiction!. Perhaps a proper memorial for the crew on that mission would be in order. As for the Space Brain suggestion, could that have been a spoof on Jay Van Andel and Richard De Vos of Amway fame? #start facetiousness Bergman: Many planets depended on that brain... Carter: Victor, that's no space brain! Koenig: then what is it? Carter: It's a gigantic spinning bottle of Indestroclean spewing out gazillions of litres of cleaning agents. Some Diamond class marketers had set it up there for a demonsration! Koenig: so they're trying to scour the moon clean... #end PA

OH, I think it would have been Piri with the ultra modern Alice-in-wonderland type setting, or maybe AB Chrysallis with the bouncing ball things that always utterly fascinated me. And I'd have to say that 20 years ago, I wouldn't have minded joining the red-tight clad jailers on the hunt with the golden whips and all.

Just one? I can think of several I would like to have been in: Space Brain - for the foam - wheee!!! Dragon's Domain - for the derelict Ultra probe ship The Full Circle - Zienia in leopardskins! :-) Guardian of Piri - the cool Pirian sets *and* Catherine in that dress! Brian Dowling

Interesting thought...are we talking about the adventure portrayed or being on the actual set to film the episode? Anyway, I'll take it from the story view and say that I would choose 'Black Sun'. For actual filming, then probably any episode. I'd love to be on Alpha...of course, I think it would be disappointing to find out that nothing (or very little) actually worked on the set...ugh! Speaking of working, does anyone know how the doors worked? Did they have stage people open and close them? I assume they did. Anthony

No bath is complete without Mr. Bubble added to the point of filling the bathroom! Perhaps this is why my parents decided that I should use the shower option at a young age as opposed to the bath... If I were a psychoanalyst I could probably have a field day with your interest in joining the DEVIL'S PLANET jailers. :) I do agree that GUARDIAN OF PIRI would have been a fun episode as well - great Pirian sets! I mean, all the guards are females.....I can't remember if all the prisoners were male or not. does anyone else? As for the nerve bacteria, I find myself wondering how that could have happened, anyway? Judging by Elizia's comment "You prisoners are political troublemakers. It is your nature to be discontent, to cause trouble." it seems quite possible that the disaster could have been the result of some rebel/dissident activity that got out of hand... opinions anyone?
