Subject: Space1999: Space:1999 Merchandise

Hi folks,

What Space:1999 merchandise would YOU like to see released?

Simple enough question - we've all seen those Dinky Eagles, the most
popular toy they ever made, the action figures, records, tapes, CDs,
t-shirts, models... and a whole load of other stuff I don't even know
about.

Got your list? Good. Now tell me.

Yes, that's right. I want to know what *every member* of this mailing list
would like to see in the way of Space:1999 merchandise. I'm not bothered
about who you are, where you're from, whether you prefer season 1 over
season 2, or what football team you support: tell me what YOU want to see.

This is a serious thing here - I'm asking this question for a reason, and
for it to work I need your input. Still got your list? Read on...

I'd love it if folks' answers could be a little more specific than
"Space:1999 videos" where possible - I'm already helping to campaign for
that.

Please send me your top 10 merchandise wishes in an e-mail with "1999 Wish
List" as the subject (so my mail software will put them all in the right
place) and you'll be helping to get Space:1999 the decent treatment it
deserves.

Do it today!

Kindest regards,

Brian Dowling - Online Alphan #144 - Birmingham, England

Somebody in Calgary AB. contacted me a month ago, he has in is possession a complete 44 inches model (built by Martin Bowers), with an extra command module and transporter pod. He wants me to trade his two extra pieces for a functionnal commlock, wich i'm building up at this time for the trade. I have found four 9 inches B&W security monitors for a cheap price here in MTL. I'm trying to build my own commpost, i know that never i will have the chance to see a functionnal commpost on sale somewhere, so i'm building up my own. ---Season two jacket with some patches on it. ---Space 1999 multimedia CD It was hard for me to keep and conserve all the pictures distributed on the net for the last three years, i'm sure that somebody, somewhere could put all the information shown in the Cybrary and the Cyber-Museum on a single 650 Mg CD. ---Moon base alpha model, 6 or 8 feet wide (hmmm!, i'm dreaming probably...). ---And of course, may be in a near future, all 48 episodes on DVD. Your prayers are answered! It's available, but expensive. Chris Trice builds custom replicas for people on a one to one basis. They are NOT kits or assembly line models. Each one is individually hand made for the customer who orders it. If I'm not mistaken, he can even replicate closely the paint jobs as seen in specific parts of the series (the thirty-five pound models were painted several times throughout the series and depending on the artist who did it, or how rushed they were, the paint jobs varied on the models from time to time). Email Chris to find out more. I have personally seen one of his Eagle replicas and can tell you they are absolutely one thousand percent accurate, except they are built to a much, much higher standard than the originals (which I also saw in person) and he uses the exact same building techniques and materials as the originals. You have to see one to believe it! His work is nothing short of astounding!!!! No one could do a better job than Chris! Anyone who wants a couple of pictures of one of his models unfinished, email me and I'll send them to you. Also, if the section is back on line, you can see pictures of his unfinished replicas at the Cybrary! It's cool to see the Eagles without their paint jobs!!! Chris's email is... platter@rpms.ac.uk > ---Space 1999 multimedia CD Funny you should mention that! I made an Enhanced CD as a school project when I took my multimedia course at Mckenzie College in Sydney N.S. last year! Has music from both seasons on it plus an enhanced section that has sound clips, pictures and information about the show. It was made using Macromedia Director 5. It's not perfect but got me a decent mark. I'd have done a bit better job if I'd had the time, but it was kinda fun nontheless. L8er!

I also always wanted to try making one of the space suits. It would be neat to have one of those too.

Greetings from the Alpha spacecraft rejuvination section! :):) My wish is guaranteed to be the weirdest of everyone's, and probably the one least likely to be realized! As someone who over the next few years wishes to build very accurate replicas of all the "Earth type" spacecraft models seen in the show (I'm working on a Hawk, a 22" Eagle, and the space station seen in "Breakaway" and "Dragon's Domain" and currently researching the Metaprobe, I would like to see all the hard to find (if not impossible!) model kits that were once available in the early seventies that were uised by the modelmakers to kitbash all the detailing on these models! Some of the kits necessary are nearly impossible to find, or are extremely expensive due to their collector status! Told ya it was a weird request! Actually I would like to see Airfix or better yet Tamiya (known for extremely accurate and detailed kits!) release a very ACCURATE kit of the Eagle about fifteen inches long!!! Then have the Swift, Superswift and Hawk released to the same scale! THAT would be coooooooollll!!!!!! Well, you did ask! I WANT ACCURATE MODELS!!! :):):):) I really like the idea another list member said (sorry I forget who it was so I can't give credit, my apologies to the list member in question!) about the commlock that could be made into a remote control for a TV or garage door opener and so on! THAT would be WAY COOL! With today's LCD technology it should be possible to make a TV set from one! I'd buy one! Anybody on the list an electronics wiz who could pull this off? If so, we must talk! L8er!

If I had the time, I surely have the skills. Just not the time :-( Yeah, the garage door thing would be kick ass....then you could also incorporate the Car's own remote lock and alarm remote as well. And yes I WANT AN ACCURATE EAGLE TOO :-) -Mark

Something in a 2XL for yours truly's frame, however. A fully functional Eagle. I hate traffic, and it would be interesting to buzz the news choppers checking out the freeways. (oh, sorry, that the Fantasy list....) The commlock combinations would be nice. Something that would give it just the right functionality for the weight. A good heft to it. I'll think on it..... How about 2hrs in a locked room with Maya! But seriosly I'd love to just site and talk to Cmdr Koenig on to one for about an hour. The 44 original scripts for the MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS series was released in paperback (two volumes) some ten years ago and is still selling well it seems, at least in Norway. It would be tremendous if something similar could be done with the SPACE:1999 scripts. Petter

I'd really like to have DVDs of all my favorites, especially 2nd season. If there were another part of my wish list, it would be that I hadn't lost all the stuff I had when I was a kid. We moved from Illinois to Utah when I was about 12, and a lot of my stuff didn't make it out here. Among the lost items: eagle model kits 3-ft long eagle Alpha model 2 commlock walkie talkies laser squirt gun battery operated laser posters 2nd year uniform that I made myself I am fortunate, however, to have what I do have, namely my books: Making of Space: 1999, The Space-Jackers, the Psychomorph, The Android Planet, first few Starlogs mentioning Space: 1999. None of them are in the greatest of condition, but at least I've really been able to enjoy them over the years. Shon Edwards
